To highlight the central role the youth played in our liberation struggle, we placed a school tie on the old South African flag, replicating the 'Y' on the current national flag.

June 16 is a very important day in South Africa's history. It marks the youth uprisings in Soweto in 1976. Though the official number of deaths following the uprising is listed at 23, the actual number could be as many as 200. We created an emotional campaign that commemorated the sacrifices of the youth and encouraged South Africans to wear their school ties and act of rememberance.
